View from Devou 2 | Cincinnati Skyline

CincinnatiViewFromDevou2_FinalThrilled to share the final capture of this Cincinnati Skyline painting. This is the second commissioned painting we’ve completed from this perspective.  After spending my childhood years inspired by this view  I was excited to see the panoramic view of both Covington Kentucky featuring the Radisson building along with all the iconic structures of the Queen City brought to life in this work of art.

While generally we prefer to paint in color, the black and white on this painting really allows the painting to focus on the architecture of the city resulting in a dynamic and aesthetically pleasing painting that will look great with nearly any decor.

Can’t wait till the new owner to this piece gets to see it in person for the first time. Getting ready to ship this piece to them in sunny Tampa, Florida.

Final Capture, Delta Mural | Great American Ballpark at Night

DeltaMural_Final_sml

Here’s one last look at the mural for Delta Airlines.  In this capture here I’ve focused on the heart of the painting and retouched out some of the outlets, thermostats, fire alarm devices and door opening objects from the piece. Just super thrilled with where the painting netted out and happy to have another capture of our beautiful city.

Delta Mural | Great American Ballpark at Night

DeltaMural_GreatAmericanBP

Excited to announce that we’ve landed an entirely new painting commission from Delta Airlines. We will be painting a Cincinnati Skyline landscape onto the walls of the CVG Customer Engagement Center in downtown Cincinnati. This 22 feet wide long wall is over 9 feet tall and will be covered with paint from floor to ceiling depicting the beautiful city of Cincinnati and magical waters of the Ohio River.

We are honored and privileged to leverage the image rights from Steve Ziegelmeyer, at Ziegelmeyer photography to use his original photograph which has already inspired several painting renditions of this scene and will be integral in crafting this mural for Delta. To see our other paintings inspired by this photography, click here for the first one, and here for the second.

Throughout the Delta mural selection process we worked up several digital compositions of what the wall could look like with our paintings in place. Below are a few which were shared in the early rounds of the selection process. We also worked up images that included the tristate, and even versions with airplanes flying over the city which are not indicated below. In the end the painting above was selected as the inspiration to drive this mural.

The Cincinnati paintings included in the digital comps leveraged following paintings of the Queen City by Jeff Johns and Colin Daugherty and can be seen here. Cincinnati in January

Here’s the first few captures of our latest painting of the Cincinnati Skyline inspired by the view from across the Ohio River in Covington Kentucky. To just stand there and soak in all the colors in the buildings reflecting and dancing into the water is a treat to the eyes. It’s always a pleasure to try and capture this same experience at the home studio with a paint brush in hand.

This is now the fifth painting from this vantage point. You can check out these earlier paintings that lead up to this piece, Cincinnati in DecemberCincinnati Brilliance Cincinnati in July and Cincinnati in April.

Stay tuned as we continue to share the progress on this painting. We’re looking to finish it by the first week of December.

Foggy Night in Cincinnati

CincinnatiFoggyNightHere’s the progress capture on my latest Cincinnati painting. This piece captures the beautiful Suspension Bridge, vibrant Ohio River and fog sweeping across some of the city’s most iconic buildings.

You’ll notice that I’ve worked a lot of purple tones into this piece and that is for two reasons. 1.) I began working a session on this painting the day after the passing of Prince and was inspired to use more purple. 2.) With the primary focus of the painting being the Suspension bridge which is predominantly yellow in tone, purple is the perfect complement to really set off the bridge. Stay tuned for the final post of this painting.

Testimonial on latest painting.

12814710_10207130701164034_4257797675821309007_nIt’s rewarding to finish a painting. But the real joy comes from getting a note like this.

“I truly adore this painting. It is my favorite piece, and that’s saying a lot because you know we have some good artwork. Can’t wait to always have a piece of Cincinnati with us as we move.” ~ Tegan

Now that’s saying a lot because they have a Leonid Afremov painting. One of my favorite artist for intense use of color.

The photo above is the painting hanging in the new owners home. Y0u can check out a high quality image of the painting here.
