Sunset on DUMBO | Brooklyn, New York

Sunset on DUMBO, Brooklyn, New York | 24″ x 36″ acrylic on canvas

Excited to share this painting inspired by the stunning view of the Manhattan Bridge from a city street. This area of Brooklyn, New York is referred to as DUMBO, Down under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It’s a famous spot, and super instagram worthy.

After seeing this perspective in many movies, in all different seasons, I just had to capture a painting from this vantage point. Another interesting component to this painting is the architecture. While I love painting bridges this was just perfect, and really branches out from all the paintings of the Roebling Bridge that I’ve done.

I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I did with the creation. Looking forward to hanging this piece in our home till it sells.

Delta Mural | Great American Ballpark at Night

DeltaMural_GreatAmericanBP

Excited to announce that we’ve landed an entirely new painting commission from Delta Airlines. We will be painting a Cincinnati Skyline landscape onto the walls of the CVG Customer Engagement Center in downtown Cincinnati. This 22 feet wide long wall is over 9 feet tall and will be covered with paint from floor to ceiling depicting the beautiful city of Cincinnati and magical waters of the Ohio River.

We are honored and privileged to leverage the image rights from Steve Ziegelmeyer, at Ziegelmeyer photography to use his original photograph which has already inspired several painting renditions of this scene and will be integral in crafting this mural for Delta. To see our other paintings inspired by this photography, click here for the first one, and here for the second.

Throughout the Delta mural selection process we worked up several digital compositions of what the wall could look like with our paintings in place. Below are a few which were shared in the early rounds of the selection process. We also worked up images that included the tristate, and even versions with airplanes flying over the city which are not indicated below. In the end the painting above was selected as the inspiration to drive this mural.

The Cincinnati paintings included in the digital comps leveraged following paintings of the Queen City by Jeff Johns and Colin Daugherty and can be seen here. Walnut Street, Cincinnati (in progress)

WalnutStreet

We love to paint the the city of Cincinnati. Generally if you check out our work most of our paintings focus on the skyline however, over the last few months we decided to get into the city and bring some street scenes to life.

The first city scene was a capture of OTR Cincinnati by Jeff Johns. You can view that painting here. After sharing this with the world it was sold instantly.

After a new client saw that piece they were inspired to capture a street in which they lived with a focus of the building they reside in. We then captured reference images of the street to provide a range of directions for final selection. Below you can check out the photography captured to inspire this painting. See if you can find the client select visual!

While this is just a start of the progress, it’s fun to share so you can see the painting come to life. Stay tuned as we’re looking forward to sharing the final painting in the near future.

OTR, Cincinnati

OTRCincy_SML

Here’s my latest painting of Cincinnati. This one is a little bit different as my focus isn’t on the skyline, but a city street in the beautiful city. I wanted to capture OTR in this bold, impressionistic style. There’s a lot of energy downtown now, especially in this area, and wanted to bring that to life with a brush and some paints.

Cincy in July

CincyinJuly

Here’s a progress capture of our latest commission painting titled, Cincinnati in July. This is a rather large painting which were working in black and white. It’s fun to paint in greyscale, however when you have something as magical as the city of Cincinnati you have to make sure you have the right contrast between those multiple shades of grey tones to really make it pop. Looking forward to finishing this one up very soon.

Cincinnati Skyline

cincinnati_36x48-lo-res

Here’s final capture of our latest painting of the Cincinnati Skyline inspired by the view from across the Ohio River in Covington Kentucky. To just stand there and soak in all the colors in the buildings reflecting and dancing into the water is a treat to the eyes. This is seriously one of my favorite portraits of the city so far.  Looking forward to rocking the next one.

This is now the fifth painting from this vantage point. You can check out these earlier paintings that lead up to this piece, Cincinnati in DecemberCincinnati Brilliance Cincinnati in July and Cincinnati in April
