View from Devou Park, Cincinnati Skyline

HERO_REFERENCEWho’s up for a challenge? We are…Ha! That’s for sure as we gear up to paint this amazing view of Cincinnati that I personally grew up with. Here’s the reference visual for the next commission painting, titled, View from Devou Park | Cincinnati. And yep, it’ll be in black and white.

Black and white paintings, are they easier? Well you don’t have to mix all the different colors, however the hard part is getting the shades of grey to separate.

Stay tuned for progress on this painting that’ll be titled, View from Devou Park, Cincinnati Skyline | 30″ X 48″ acrylic on canvas by Jeff Johns and Colin Daugherty

Walnut Street, Cincinnati (in progress)

WalnutStreet

We love to paint the the city of Cincinnati. Generally if you check out our work most of our paintings focus on the skyline however, over the last few months we decided to get into the city and bring some street scenes to life.

The first city scene was a capture of OTR Cincinnati by Jeff Johns. You can view that painting here. After sharing this with the world it was sold instantly.

After a new client saw that piece they were inspired to capture a street in which they lived with a focus of the building they reside in. We then captured reference images of the street to provide a range of directions for final selection. Below you can check out the photography captured to inspire this painting. See if you can find the client select visual!

While this is just a start of the progress, it’s fun to share so you can see the painting come to life. Stay tuned as we’re looking forward to sharing the final painting in the near future.

Music Hall

MusicHall_Hero_smallThis piece is finally complete and has to be one the first paintings of Music Hall that captures the entirely new facade. A few features include newly reopened windows and elaborate painted black bricks that accent the red bricks on the building. Really great work to the teams at Messer, PWWG and 3CDC and the rest of the project team for bringing to life the new face of Music Hall which was such an inspiration to paint.

It was an honor for myself and Colin to paint this key icon in the city of Cincinnati since 1876. This is our second painting of Music Hall, click here to see the first which captured the Lumenocity event from a few years back.
