Lovely Reflections | A Carolina Sunset

SunsetPainting_small 2

There’s nothing better than walk on the beach at sunset with the people you love. This piece of art was crafted to capture that special moment. And during these times of staying home and crafting art and having two of our family vacations canceled this piece really shined uplifting light and optimism during those times.

Now, I’ve got to say I’m super excited to share the final capture of our latest Carolina beach inspired sunset painting. What a joy to paint such a vivid painting during these times. This is the second commissioned painting that we’ve finished during COVID and can not wait to deliver this to the new owner.

Liberty Enlightening the World, New York City

StatueofLiberty_smallHere’s a look at my latest painting of the beautiful Statue of Liberty. With COVID-19 in full force and the initial mix of emotions during this time it took a while to pick up a paint brush. Finally after seeing the impact this pandemic initially had city of New York I realized that while in quarantine it was time to do my first painting of a major icon of New York and the United States of America.

As mentioned, this is my very  first quarantine painting ever, now I must say that I had another commission in the works prior however this is my first inspired painting during this time.

Excited to share that this This painting is finally complete. Never have painted the Statute of Liberty or NYC before but thought it would be a great time to start. That said, I had a blast working it and excited to share the final capture.

On the Roebling Bridge | 30″ x 40″ Acrylic on Canvas

Excited to share that this painting has officially sold bringing in a significant amount of money towards a local small business. Our friends at Libby’s Southern Comfort will receive 100% of the proceeds going to both their staff and business.

Looking forward to picking up the brush and making more art. The odd thing about this time is that Colin and I haven’t been able to paint together on the same canvas at the same time and I miss that. Pretty soon we’ll be painting together again and I can’t wait!! 😁

In the meantime we’re happy our art was able to make a difference in a small way. Congrats to the winner of the painting and we hope you enjoy!

View from Devou 2 | Cincinnati Skyline

CincinnatiViewFromDevou2_FinalThrilled to share the final capture of this Cincinnati Skyline painting. This is the second commissioned painting we’ve completed from this perspective.  After spending my childhood years inspired by this view  I was excited to see the panoramic view of both Covington Kentucky featuring the Radisson building along with all the iconic structures of the Queen City brought to life in this work of art.

While generally we prefer to paint in color, the black and white on this painting really allows the painting to focus on the architecture of the city resulting in a dynamic and aesthetically pleasing painting that will look great with nearly any decor.

Can’t wait till the new owner to this piece gets to see it in person for the first time. Getting ready to ship this piece to them in sunny Tampa, Florida.

Cincinnati Skyline | A View from Riverside Terrace

RiversideTerrace_smallHere’s the final capture of this painting titled, Cincinnati Skyline, A View from Riverside Terrace. This painting was originally kicked off back in mid September after being invited to this beautiful living space in Riverside Terrace and asked to replicate the view from our client’s balcony.

After nearly five months of working this painting, Colin and myself have finally decided it is finished. I have to say that after all the skyline scenes we’ve painted this one has to be near the top of our list due to the fact that so many of the iconic structures in the city of Cincinnati are featured in this work of art. One of my personal favorites is the Roebling Bridge and fro this vantage point it takes up nearly the left side of the canvas. Colin’s favorite structure in the city is the Great American Building and stadium and those truly glow in this piece adding constant excitement from left to right of the painting.

We’re thrilled to be finally finished with this painting and looking forward to our client seeing it in person for the very first time. Hope you enjoy too!

Sold! Brush Limbaugh

This piece from 2011 kind of just happened as was painting all the time and decided to adhere a paint brush to canvas, once I had that I needed to solve what to make the painting. An amazing pun then occurred to me… Brush Limbaugh. From there it was my mission to create this painting. My end goal was to sell this piece to Rush Limbaugh for $10,000. That never happened but I am happy to share that I was recently able to trade Toby Hogan, a house painter this piece for painting our entire basement.

Johns’ Roebling Bridge painting is now the cover of Cincinnati’s Budget in Brief Documents FY2020.

IMG_8300I’m super stoked to share that I’ve recently had this painting featured on the City of Cincinnati legislation documents. For fiscal year 2020, Cincinnati has selected my painting titled, Golden Evening Suspension, which will be used as the cover for the Budget in Brief, a document used by city council to assist in determining legislation spending, and will also be featured on the city’s official website.

It’s just awesome to see your passion come to life not only on canvas but other content that can really inspire the public. This particular painting selected by the City of Cincinnati showcases the strong foundation and vivid structure of this iconic landmark. At night, this bridge has the most beautiful gold color reflecting into the Ohio River. This particular painting is special to Johns, so special in fact, that he had canvas prints made of this piece to give as gifts to the groomsmen in his wedding.

IMG_8298You can see the original post for this panting here. What makes this piece extra special is that the gift of art keeps on giving, I actually sold it to longtime friend and colleague where it proudly is on display in his home, and now will live on in print and digital forms for the City of Cincinnati.

View from Devou Park, Cincinnati Skyline

HERO_REFERENCEWho’s up for a challenge? We are…Ha! That’s for sure as we gear up to paint this amazing view of Cincinnati that I personally grew up with. Here’s the reference visual for the next commission painting, titled, View from Devou Park | Cincinnati. And yep, it’ll be in black and white.

Black and white paintings, are they easier? Well you don’t have to mix all the different colors, however the hard part is getting the shades of grey to separate.

Stay tuned for progress on this painting that’ll be titled, View from Devou Park, Cincinnati Skyline | 30″ X 48″ acrylic on canvas by Jeff Johns and Colin Daugherty
