Unexpected Asterisk | CPSI

UnexpectedAsteriskSay hello to my latest painting. This piece was inspired by the upcoming creativity conference by the Creative Education Foundation, CPSI. Known as the Creative Problem Solving Institute. The conference takes place this June and prides itself on creative solutions for complex business issues, helping professionals like you move ideas into action. One of the sponsors of this conference is Seed Strategy, Inc. where I work as SVP, Creative. This connection along with my passion as a fine artist lead to this outstanding opportunity to design, craft a painting and ultimately be facilitating a live community art project during the event!

During the process I had great time bringing this simple symbol we use and see all the time to life. The asterisk is a symbol that basically says something was omitted from the text. I wanted to celebrate that symbol and bring a whole new energy to it.

While working several designs for how the asterisk could come to life, here’s one example of it in a lanyard card design for the 2019 event.

Foggy Night in Cincinnati

CincinnatiFoggyNightHere’s the progress capture on my latest Cincinnati painting. This piece captures the beautiful Suspension Bridge, vibrant Ohio River and fog sweeping across some of the city’s most iconic buildings.

You’ll notice that I’ve worked a lot of purple tones into this piece and that is for two reasons. 1.) I began working a session on this painting the day after the passing of Prince and was inspired to use more purple. 2.) With the primary focus of the painting being the Suspension bridge which is predominantly yellow in tone, purple is the perfect complement to really set off the bridge. Stay tuned for the final post of this painting.

Testimonial on latest painting.

12814710_10207130701164034_4257797675821309007_nIt’s rewarding to finish a painting. But the real joy comes from getting a note like this.

“I truly adore this painting. It is my favorite piece, and that’s saying a lot because you know we have some good artwork. Can’t wait to always have a piece of Cincinnati with us as we move.” ~ Tegan

Now that’s saying a lot because they have a Leonid Afremov painting. One of my favorite artist for intense use of color.

The photo above is the painting hanging in the new owners home. Y0u can check out a high quality image of the painting here.

We love creating paintings with a lot of emotion. Both in the layers of paint, how the medium is applied to canvas and the exact subjects in which we bring to life. This piece was commissioned by a couple married in this church. To make this painting even more special, we worked the hands of the clock to the time they were married we also added the bride and grooms names and wedding date to the painting.

Pink Ribbon Luncheon | Cincinnati 2015

PinktheTownIt was an honor to be featured artists “live painting” the 2015 Pink Ribbon Luncheon, Cincinnati at the Duke Energy Convention Center this year. Such a great experience to meet so many people and showcase our true passion for painting with others and to top it off, a percentage proceeds from sales went to support breast cancer care.

We started to gear up for the event by working on a cityscape painting of the beautiful Cincinnati Skyline. We worked it in grey-scale first then decided to add pink and really Pink the Town.

What an event, not only did we support such a good cause, we also met a ton of great people and make some really strong connections while doing what we love to do, and that’s paint the beautiful Cincinnati Skyline.

A special thanks to the Chris Collinsworth Proscan Fund

St. Johns and Cincinnati | Acrylic on Canvas

St. Johns and Cincinnati Here’s the latest on the painting I’ve been rocking for my wife and I. This painting captures everything we love about the city. The church we were married in, Paul Brown Stadium on a Monday Night Football evening and of course the amazing skyline.

There’s about fifteen hours left until this piece will be complete. My plan is to tighten up the buildings in the skyline, add some color and form to the houses under the skyline and treat the expressway like a time lapse photo with blurred lines of traffic to really add some color and boldness to the piece.

Stay tuned for the final piece. Once it’s complete, I’ll take a nice photo with the DSLR and post.

Enjoy! Jeff
