Here’s the first capture of the painting titled, “In Fight ~ Red-Tailed Hawk,” by the duo of Cincinnati-based fine artists Jeff Johns and Colin Daugherty, who coined the name JJCD Collaborations™ since their first masterpiece of the Cincinnati skyline years ago. “We’re really looking to capture the essence of this soaring hawk on a canvas that’s nearly as big as me,” says Daugherty.

Stay tuned and enjoy the progress.

”30″ x 40″ Acrylic on Canvas painting of a Hawaiian Hibiscus. Which in Hawaiian language can be translated to NaniAloalo. However, I am still trying to distinguish this certain species of flora. Research indicates that this hibiscus is the Kokiʻo keʻokeʻo, and it’s simply beautiful so I’ve decided to call this piece “Nani |I am currently working this Aloalo series for potential gallery placement on the lovely island of Kauai. 30″ x 36″ Acrylic on Canvas

Say hello to the fourth painting in this series of the Majestic Sunflower. This one rises to the top because the main focus of this painting is on the beautiful petals. Each petal is built with color and dimension that really seem to pop off the canvas.

Cincinnati-based fine artist, Jeff Johns presents the painting, “Top of the Majestic Sunflower.“

Majestic Sunflower II ~ Capturing the Process

Excited by the request to create another Majestic Sunflower, I’m going to share the entire process with you. This new piece of artwork will be created with mixed media on a 16″ x 40″ canvas. Starting with the initial sketch on canvas, I plan to give you a peak behind the curtain throughout the entire process of the creation of one of the most dimensional paintings in the fine art world today. As you track this post starting with the initial sketch, you’ll be taking the journey of texture building and layering of paint to breath life into this sunflower.

I never thought I’d recreate a painting, but when there’s a demand for a piece it really fuels the entire process. This new-found motivation is sure to power an even stronger painting than the original. But, even if this piece ends up more beautiful than the original, it will be a piece entirely of it’s own. The first Majestic Sunflower has a beautiful DNA to it, and taught me what I needed to learn to truly rock this entirely new piece of art. I really hope you enjoy the progress on Majestic Sunflower II. ~ JefferyJ.
