City of Cincinnati to use Jeff Johns Roebling Bridge painting

0Some exciting news. The City of Cincinnati will be using my painting of the Roebling Bridge, titled, Golden Evening Suspension as the cover of their Budget in Brief documents. This document will be used by city council to assist in determining legislation regarding spending. It will also be featured on the city’s official website. Here’s a sneak peak at the design leveraging my painting, keep in mind it’ll be updated for 2020. More to come!

Flying Pig Over Covington, Kentucky

Here’s one of the latest commission paintings we’ve been rocking. This painting in particular was commissioned by a local running enthusiast. If you haven’t heard of the Flying Pig Marathon it’s actually been around for over twenty years and is powered by P&G. To learn more about the marathon click here.

In this painting we really aimed to hero the pig over the beloved Covington Kentucky Skyline. A nice rendition of the skyline showcasing some renowned architecture in both the Ascent and the Roebling Bridge as in the foreground as the pig spreads its wings and soars over the other side of the Ohio River to Cincinnati.

Here’s one last look at the mural for Delta Airlines.  In this capture here I’ve focused on the heart of the painting and retouched out some of the outlets, thermostats, fire alarm devices and door opening objects from the piece. Just super thrilled with where the painting netted out and happy to have another capture of our beautiful city.

Delta Mural | Great American Ballpark at Night

The project was started in early August of 2018 is now proudly on display on the walls of the CVG Customer Engagement Center in downtown Cincinnati. The piece is 22 feet wide long wall is over 9 feet tall.

This piece is titled, Delta, Great American Ball Park at Night | 255″ x 115″ acrylic and mixed medium on wall by Jeff Johns and Colin Daugherty.

Here’s the final capture of his painting titled, Beautiful Columbus Ohio Skyline. It was really neat to work this painting as it captures everything we love to paint, from the reflections in the water to the architecture of the city. Even had the chance to work in some vibrant green grasses and trees into the portrait of this vibrant city.

This piece has been commissioned by a Janney, a leading full-service wealth management, financial services and investment banking firm to outfit their office expansion in Columbus Ohio. This series of  paintings will depict the beautiful city of Columbus Ohio. This is part of a series of 3 Columbus themed paintings.

Here’s the final capture of his painting titled, Short North, Columbus Ohio. It was really neat to work this painting as I’ve had artwork just down the street in a gallery a few years back, then one day to paint the street scene that captured my heart was really inspiring.

Kicking off a series of Columbus themed paintings.

Some exciting news! We’ve been commissioned by a company in Columbus to outfit their offices with our art. We’ll be rocking a series of 3 Columbus themed paintings. Here’s a start to the start on the first piece.

Other pieces in this series of Columbus themed paintings will include a rendition of Short North, one of my favorite places when I visit due to the all the great shopping and restaurants and of course the art galleries. The other piece in this series will be a print of the Ohio State Stadium titled, The Shoe at OSU. You can see that painting in more detail here.

Shatterday Morning | Triptych

While most of the art in their home depicts Cincinnati, these were quite a bit different as we went with a more abstract and serene approach. The result of the pantings is a very distressed feel with cracks, soft blends, and gritty texture. Think of your favorite pair of jeans and this set of paintings is kind of like that.

If you’re interested in checking out any of the other paintings by this client, they have commissioned these Cincinnati Skyline themed pieces. Cincy in July, Fountain Square Cincinnati, and of course the Flying Pig Cincinnati.

It was awesome to see their reaction to artwork upon delivery. And once it was hung on the wall the paintings really came to life tying the entire room together. Here’s a few photos of the paintings on display in their new home.

While I love texture and dimension, this style of painting was completely new for me to tackle. It was fun to get in there and get my hands dirty while leveraging some new mediums. The material that was integral to this piece is crackle paste by Golden, it’s a thick opaque material that cracks when it dries. If you’re looking to rock a painting like this be sure to check that out. Also do a few test runs of the materials before you start the hero project.
